This 23 hectare estate has been in the Massolino family since 1896. In recent years, the style of the wines has undergone a subtle transformation. Winemaker Franco Massolino has done a wonderful job of marrying change with a respect for tradition, something that sets Massolino apart from many of the younger producers in Barolo today. The vineyards, with vines up to 60 years old, are in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba: the source of some of the greatest, most structured and longest-lived Barolos.
In the glass, this wine is bright yellow with a fine and long lasting mousse. It opens with fresh and intense grape aromas, accompanied by notes of sage. On the palate, it has a refreshing acidity to balance the natural sweetness of this wine. The typical aroma of Moscato grapes dominates the palate, and it has a very long and delicious finish.
This is a bright ruby-red, fresh, fruity and elegant Dolcetto with red berry aromas on the nose. The palate opens to a multitude of flavours of red cherries and berries. The concentration of flavours is balanced by the refreshing acidity that is evident on the long persistent finish,
This Nebbiolo is ruby-garnet in colour.The nose is delicate and pleasing, with notes of raspberries and violets and a subtle touch of spice. On the palate, the wine is elegant with soft tannins balanced by a fine minerality and vibrant acidity.
