Real Companhia Velha was founded in 1756 by the King of Portugal, this company represents some of the finest Quintas in the Douro. Old but not out of touch, they have been able to preserve and honor the traditional winemaking while investing in the future with constant modernization and experimentation in their vineyards at some of best Quintas in the Douro. Over the years, Delaforce has developed a reputation for its outstanding blending and ageing skills which express themselves in the company’s wines and ports, in particular the renowned aged tawny port.
This very rare old tawny is drawn from the firm’s extensive reserves of old cask matured port. Its elegant and complex nose displays aromas of orange flower, walnut and butterscotch, spicy hints of liquorice and vanilla and an attractive ‘cigar box’ woodiness on a background of rich figgy fruit. In the mouth it is round, smooth and richly-flavoured with a long spicy and jammy finish.
A lighter style of Douro red. With no oak ageing, it shows a clean, deep and bright ruby coloured wine with red berry and cherry notes showing intensity and freshness. Ripe fruit flavours, excellent structure, velvety and very well balanced.
Rich, lightly perfumed, raspberry aroma. On the mouth; smooth, silky, deliciously fresh sweet raspberry fruit flavours. Lovely quality and intensity of fruit. An attractive very fresh well balanced wine.
A deep red colour, ripe jammy plum and berry fruit aromas combine with the rich mellow flavours of wood ageing and displays the characteristic elegance, balance and harmony of the Delaforce house style. Rich and round on the palate.
This Vintage Port presents a beautiful purplish colour. Restrained and austererity define its bouquet which opens up to unveil aromas of sweet and spiced fruit, leading to an opulent, complex and structured palate. Its tannins are evident in a sweet and vibrant form.
This sumptuous and richly flavoured tawny port is matured for ten years in seasoned oak casks. It combines ripe jammy fruit aromas with the rich mellow flavours of wood ageing and displays the characteristic elegance, balance and harmony of the Delaforce house style. Rich and round on the palate.
