Viognier “Réserve Spéciale” 2018 – Gérard Bertrand
An elegant and aromatic Viognier revealing complex notes of peach, ripe pear and tropical fruits enhanced by subtle overtones of honeysuckle and orange blossom. This is a delicate yet textured Viognier with a lovely rich, smooth palate.
The grapes to produce Viognier “Réserve Spéciale” Gérard Bertrand were pressed as soon as they reached the winery and were immediately transferred to temperature controlled stainless steel vats. After static cold settling, alcoholic fermentation took place at low temperatures to preserve the fruity aromatics. Viognier “Réserve Spéciale” Gérard Bertrand did not go through malolactic fermentation, preserving its fresh character.
The Réserve Spéciale range showcases the elegant, generous array of fruity flavours produced by the very best terroirs in the region. The grapes for this Viognier are grown on the cooler terroirs of the untamed hillsides in the Pays d’Oc, where the vines enjoy optimum sunshine and low rainfall, bringing out all the complexity of the region’s emblematic grape variety. The yields are limited in order to concentrate the aromatic potential and the grapes are harvested at full ripeness, so that it expresses its complex varietal characteristics.
