The grapes to produce Legend Vintage Gérard Bertrand had separate fermentation of both white and red varieties with the red undergoing a long maceration period. Fermentation is halted before the yeasts have the time to convert all of the sugar into alcohol to retain sweetness. The wines of Legend Vintage Gérard Bertrand are then matured in wooden tuns, casks or barrels for nine to 12 months before being blended and transferred to vats to age.
