The Solaris Vino del Passo Lieselehof is made of 100% variety Solaris, it is a cross between (Seyve-Villard 5-276 x (Riesling x Rulander) and (Zaraya Severa x Muscat Ottonel). The vine to produce Solaris Vino del Passo Lieselehof characterized by a good resistance against the true and false oidium. In “normal” years, it does not need to be chemically treated. It is hardly comparable to another type of vine. In South Tyrol, the vine prefers clayey soils, not wet, leased to an altitude above 700 meters asl the Solaris grapes from the Lieselehof winery ripen on the meadow of an alp near the Passo della Mendola at an altitude of 1,200-1,300 meters above sea level. At this altitude, for each branch, there are only one to two small bunches of grapes, with equally small berries. For optimum wine quality, the load per vine should not exceed 0.4 – 0.5 kg. It is, therefore, necessary the grapes of at least two vines to obtain a bottle of wine. The wine is matured in steel and aged in the bottle before to be released.
The organic wine estate Lieselehof is situated in Kaltern am See, one of the historic wine-growing areas of the country. The Morandell family has been active in viniculture for many generations.
