The Tazzelenghe grapes of Friuli Colli Orientali Tazzelenghe Casella are grown on clayey marly soil of oceanic origin. The harvest is manual in a box with selection in the vineyard; the de-stemmed grapes are left to ferment in cement tanks with regular delestage and pumping over, malolactic fermentation at the end of alcoholic fermentation. Friuli Colli Orientali Tazzelenghe DOC Casella ages 12 months in barriques and partially in steel tanks, 6 months in contact with noble lees and then aged in glass.
The Casella wine farm was born from the will of Lino Casella, “young” winemaker who, after important winemaking experiences matured in the Colli Orientali del Friuli since the 80s, managed to transform his great passion for the vine and the land in its own production reality. In fact, in 2006 it took over one of the historic companies in the Prepotto area, founded at the end of the nineteenth century by the Rieppi family. The company covers 5.5 hectares and has some well-preserved vines, which have been bearing fruit for over 50 years. The types of vineyards present cover a complete range of products: Schioppettino, Tazzelenghe, Merlot, Franconia, Cabernet Franc, Tocai Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Ribolla Gialla. And all reflect the unique terroir of this area.
