The Nebbiolo Ortensio Lando Faccinelli has produced from 100% Nebbiolo (Chiavannesca) grapes from vineyards close to Dossi Salti (the highest section of the Grumello sub-area called “Dossi Salati”, in the municipalities of Montagna in Valtellina and Sondrio). The vineyards are at an altitude between 500 and 650 metres a.s.l. and they all face South. The soil is predominally composed of sand and gravel; shallow and with a very compact surface layer, deep tend to be acid. The harvest is manual, starting between the second and third week of October. During the harvest, the health and the complete maturation of the bunches are of the utmost importance. The first passage between the rows is dedicated to harvesting the grapes with the desired characteristics that are immediately brought to the cellar for mashing. The maceration lasts for 10-12 days at a fermentation temperature between 25-32 ° C. During this period, cycles of reassembly and fulling of the hat are alternated. The malolactic fermentation takes place by the spring.Te Nebbiolo Ortensio Lando Faccinelli is then matured in small French oak barrels for 16 months. It follows a short period in steel before bottling and age for at least a year in bottle.
The Luca Faccinelli Agricultural Company was founded in 2007 in Chiuro, in the heart of Valtellina. It grows and produces Nebbiolo grapes from terraced vineyards in the area of Valtellina Superiore Grumello, in the area called Dossi Salati. A few labels are produced from about three hectares of vineyards in which passion, enthusiasm and love for the land and the vineyards of the Valtellina are concentrated. Particular attention is given to the vineyard and the selection of the grapes. Reason why – for example – the 2012 vintage was not vinified, while for the 2014 harvest it was decided to produce only the Rosso di Valtellina DOC Matteo Bandello, the second label produced by the company.
