The Nebbiolo d’Alba Pinsoglio grapes are cultivated at an altitude of 240 meters on sandy, clayey soil with south, east-west exposure. The harvest begins in late September and early October, it is manual in a box with selection in the vineyard; followed by a gentle pressing and fermentation in thermocontrolled tanks for 8-10 days. Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Pinsoglio is placed in small wood (2nd and 3rd passage barriques, depending on the characteristics of the vintage), alcoholic fermentation ends and malolactic fermentation takes place. The duration of the ageing in wood varies from 12 to 14 months then refines in glass for a few months.
This family-run winery is located in Canale (the core of Roero) in the hamlet of Madonna dei Cavalli. The farm has been founded in the 60s by Oreste Pinsoglio and, like all typical Roero farms of that age, managed different cultivations. Through the years they decided to invest more resources on new areas planted with vines.
