The grapes of the Franconia delle Venezie IGT Casella are grown on marly-clay soil. The harvest begins the first week of October with manual harvesting, followed by destemming, fermentation on the skins for 10 days with regular pumping over and drawing off with soft pressing. The Franconia delle Venezie IGT Casella ages in vitrified cement tanks for 12 months then refines in bottle for 3 months.
The Casella wine farm was born from the will of Lino Casella, “young” winemaker who, after important winemaking experiences matured in the Colli Orientali del Friuli since the 80s, managed to transform his great passion for the vine and the land in its own production reality. In fact, in 2006 it took over one of the historic companies in the Prepotto area, founded at the end of the nineteenth century by the Rieppi family. The company covers 5.5 hectares and has some well-preserved vines, which have been bearing fruit for over 50 years. The types of vineyards present cover a complete range of products: Schioppettino, Tazzelenghe, Merlot, Franconia, Cabernet Franc, Tocai Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Ribolla Gialla. And all reflect the unique terroir of this area.
