The grapes of Trentino Marzemino Battistotti are grown in the municipalities of Volano and Isera at an altitude of 150 meters with a south-east exposure on heavy, deep and poor soil of Volano; basalt black earth of medium texture in Isera. The harvest is manual in a box with selection in the vineyard; the grapes are then pressed and de-stemmed, vinified in cement vats in contact with the skins for 6 – 7 days, then drawn off with a light residual sugar to control the presence of tannins. Trentino Marzemino DOC Battistoni is decanted in steel favouring malolactic fermentation by keeping it in a warm environment; then it will refine in a glass.
After years of family winemaking tradition, the Battistotti wine family (Elio, Luciano and Enzo, under the supervision of father Riccardo), decided to become part of a wider community of winemakers, as a conferring partner of the grapes. It is a historic company, the Società Agricoltori della Vallagarina (SAV), the largest cooperative company in Vallagarina founded in 1908. This company will continue with the same passion and professionalism to take the road taken by Luciano, the family’s Oenologist, guaranteeing the care and maintenance of the great family winemaking tradition of Battistotti.
