The Montecucco Campinuovi is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Campinuovi cultivated at an altitude of 350-450 meters on land composed of sandstone boulders of fractured sandstone with considerable presence of organic substance, silty clays, marly clays with calcareous intercalations. To produce the Montecucco Caminuovi the harvest is manual in boxes with selection in the vineyard and the fermentation is spontaneous, conducted by native yeasts in truncated conical vats of 70 Hl slavonian oak for sangiovese, in 25 Hl stainless steel tanks for cabernet sauvignon. Sangiovese and Cabernet Campinuovi mature in barrels in Slavonian oak and French from 20 Hl, then ages in bottle for 3 months.
NOTES: wine included in the “Interpretations” project and obtained with organically grown grapes certified by CODEX.
“We cultivate our vineyards in compliance with organic and biodynamic agriculture. In our vineyards we sow and then bury green manure in order to bring organic substance and structure to the ground. In the cellar we vinify in a traditional way without temperature control, without selected yeasts, enzymes and clarification with fermentation on the skins in truncated conical oak vats for at least two weeks, after which we refine our wines in conical 70 Hl oak vats and in 20 Hl oak barrels and bottle them manually without filtration. ” – Nadia Riguccini and Daniele Rosellini
Daniele Rosellini and Nadia Riguccini are the owners of Campinuovi.
Daniele, according to those who know him well, has always had “wine in his blood”. After his Degree in Agricultural Science in Florence, he specialises in Viticulture and Oenology in Turin working on Piemontese grape varieties. The call from his native land, however, was too strong so Daniele returns to Tuscany to collaborate with the University of Florence on a study on Brunello di Montalcino.
In an agrarian microbiology lab, Daniele meets Nadia, the one with “the land in her blood”. Her family, who have been farmers for generations, have transmitted her the passion for such hard but noble work. After her Degree in Agricultural Science in Florence, she deepens her knowledge in organic and biodynamic agriculture as well as skills in business management. From the meeting of Daniele and Nadia, Campinuovi and three beautiful children are born.
