ROSSO IGT “iTOSCANI” WINE FROM TOSCANA
(Rosso IGT “iToscani” from Casale Marittimo, Pienza)
The label of iToscani is inspired by Oliviero’s late father Fedele Toscani, and his agency’s Rotofoto logo. The logo’s brick red colour not only represents the red soils of our vineyards but inspires to think of the ruby red hue our wine creates on the rim of the glass. The elegant round circles signify the complex structure yet finesse of the wine, and the play between the contrasting white and red colours stands for the intensity and lightness, while simultaneously impersonating the perfect symbiosis between the Syrah and Teroldego grapes from which the wine is made.
Syrah, Teroldego in equal parts
TASTING NOTES – What’s in the glass?
iToscani retains a dark ruby red colour, rich in purple shades. This Teroldego based wine expresses an intense fruity aroma, such as dark cherries, with a final smoked reminiscence. Before taste it, you can recognise how iToscani is mineral: hints of soil and crushed rocks will come to the nose slowly. It also has a beautiful herbaceous dash of freshly cut grass and hay. In the mouth, it is charming, full of freshness and liveliness, balanced by just the right amount of cleansing bitterness for a pleasant ending. Tannins are pungent, promising an extraordinary ageing potential. Good length.
FLAVOUR STYLE: Full-Bodied Red
PARING – What do I pair with?
Perfect in combination with light pasta dishes and light main courses, better if meat-based. Also good with aged cheese. It achieves the best match with fettucini and wild boar sauce.
ABOUT OT WINE

WINEMAKING NOTES – How is it made?
The harvest begins in the second half of September and farmers pick grapes by hand and put them in wooden bins. Once in the cellar, the selection of the grapes takes place in two periods, first immediately after picking and then after destemming operations, as a result to guarantee that only completely ripe berries go to the fermentation tanks. The maceration lasts approximately 20 days while the fermentation takes place at the same time in stainless steel tanks. Then, the wine goes directly into other tanks, where, in conclusion, it matures for 6 months. Consequently, iToscani remains 12 months more in the bottle before the release.
HARVEST: from September 15th to 30th
