The La Bota de Cream NO 79 Equipo Navazos is the result of a blending of top-quality Pedro Ximénez likely made over a century ago. Harmonious integration over the decades has made the wine fine and round, thanks to the patience of several generations of winemakers, becoming today a prodigious balance between the raciness of dry oloroso and the mellowness of sweet PX.
La Bota de Cream 79 “Bota NO” is a new release of the previous editions 19 and 38 in the series. This is a sweet oloroso that has aged as such in a 9-butt solera under the label “Viejo Cream”, never before commercially available except for a few exceptional sacas. This solera has in turn a bota NO as well as a double NO—of notably higher age and character, and is available only in very limited volumes.
Equipo Navazos is a group of friends who have united over a shared passion for the treasures of Jerez, Sanlúcar, El Puerto and Montilla. Working with local producers to identify high quality butts of sherry with finesse and complexity which they then bottle and offer in very limited amounts. As well as producing sherry, Equipo Navazos has collaborated with other winemakers including Dirk Niepoort and Sergi Colet to develop some intriguing and characterful wines from Jerez and sparkling wines from Penèdes. The white chalky soil of the Jerez area, ‘albariza,’ is ideal for the cultivation of Palamino grapes which produce the sherry for which Jerez is so well known. The Manzanilla and Sherry wines are bottled in limited series, in successive numbered editions of dated releases (the date of each saca or withdrawal has been precisely stated on the label) so that aficionados can deliberately compare different editions of the same solera if they so desire.
