Pale yellow in colour, the 2018 Montagny 1er Cru 'Les Burnins' reveals an extremely concentrated and floral nose, with hints of honeysuckle, citrus blossom and ripe apples. The pure and elegant palate is balanced by a crisp acidity and a lovely minerality on the mid-palate.
On the nose, this wine is nicely defined showing aromas of apricot, peach and pear. The palate seamlessly blends the elegant aromas of vanilla and nutmeg from the new oak with a good tension and a racy acidity which lifts the scented finish.
In the right hands, the often-overlooked Aligoté grape variety can shine. Using grapes from old vines gives this Aligoté a beautiful concentration with a lovely balance of power, richness and acidity. Notes of nougat and toasted hazelnuts carry through onto the finish.
