The Gavi del Comune di Gavi DOCG Folli & Benato grapes were harvested mid September. Fermentation took place in stainless steel for around 20 days at 12 ° C, afterwhich it spent a further period of refinement in stainless steel for a minimum of 3 months on the fine lees and 1-2 months in bottle before release.
Folli & Benato are long-standing friends and colleagues for over 20 years. Italian born and bred, they met whilst living in England, working in the drinks trade. Together, they share a deep-rooted passion for wine and in particular the region of Piedmont, which after many trips together, is at the heart of this project. Folli & Benato source and bottle wines which truly reflect Piedmont’s many terroirs, whilst remaining excellent value for money. Piedmont is one of the vinous capitols of the world. Responsible for some of the finest wines around, including Barolo and Barbaresco. But these two renowned communes make up just 3% of the region’s offering. More recently, we are seeing other areas and styles rising in popularity, and no wonder, with such a diverse climate and a fantastic array of indigenous varieties. From Alto-Piedmonte, to Gavi, to the Langhe hills, Folli & Benato are on a mission to showcase the depth and breadth that this land has to offer.
