The grapes of Colli Euganei Merlot La Montecchia are cultivated on volcanic soil with tachitic flakes and various clays with south, south-east extension. The harvest is manual in boxes with selection in the vineyard and the vinification is traditional in red with maceration of the grapes for about 10 days. The Colli Euganei Merlot DOC La Montecchia ages 12 months in oak barrels then refines in glass for at least 6 months.
La Montecchia winery belonged and belongs to the same family since the Middle Ages. Its main activity is the viticulture, one of the causes of being part of the denomination of controlled origin (DOC) of the Euganean Hills. The vineyard rises up on the delightful gentle slopes of the La Montecchia hill, where you can admire the Villa Emo Capodilista, and in Monte Castello in Baone.
Padua is easily reachable in a few minutes, such as the other cities of art in Veneto, thanks to the strategic location, nearby the most important roads.
The wine cellars are near the ancient farm. Close you will find the shop and four very suitable and welcoming apartments. Inside the castle, house of Count Giordano, is possible to book an apartment or a bed & breakfast suite.
The Villa Emo Capodilista is open to the public for guided tours and exclusive holidays.
Bordering the estate is the Golf Club, well known for its courses, and also for its excellent restaurant (Michelin star). A short walk far from Padua, a place to spend relaxing and pleasant vacations, rich of cultural landmarks.
