The grapes to produce the Rosado Lagar de Costa are hand-harvested and de-stemmed before a cold maceration for 24 hours to extract colour and flavour from the skins. The must is fermented in stainless steel tank for around 15-20 days at 16-18 ºC. The resulting wine is aged in French oak barrel for 4 months.
Lagar de Costa is small family run winery located on the Atlantic shore, opposite the island of La Toja in the heart of the Salnes. Lagar de Costa has a long tradition of growing Albariño which goes back to the beginning of the 20th century, but it has only been bottling its fruit since 2001. Some of the vineyards are more than 50 years old and yields are kept well below the DO average. The soil is predominantly sandy and the ocean influence keeps the temperature at a yearly average of 14 degrees. The production of their Albarino undergoes rigorous control in both the vineyards and cellars. Only the best selection of grapes go to make up the final wine. In the winery, traditional process and values are partnered with modern techniques to ensure the highest quality product. This is a true expression of this exciting grape varietal, which offers depth, exuberant floral character and minerality.
