VARIOUS NOTES AND PROJECTS: “Lüsarein” in the local dialect means firefly; the name is linked to the first presentation of this product, which took place on a warm evening of summer 2011, in our splendid valley dotted with intermittent lights.
“Lüsarein”, unequivocal expression of our territory, obtained with pure Timorasso grapes, the only sparkling wine produced in Italy with these characteristics declared on the label.
Azienda Agricola Poggio has a recent history but well rooted in the past. In the oldest part of the cellar if you look up into the vault of full bricks you can read a date: 1899. It is then that the native farmhouse was built, where our great-grandparents cultivated the vine but not only, also cereals and fodder for feeding livestock … but they soon realized that Hill Croja with its “poor” land was not suitable for anything other than the cultivation of the vine.
Over the generations the company has specialized in the cultivation of vines and in the production of wine, dedicating itself strongly to the revival and the enhancement of its territory. In recent years, a decisive improvement in the quality of vineyard management has been completed to obtain a higher quality grape to obtain wines with precise and respectful characteristics of our territory. Wine cellar Poggio Castel Boglione, the territory that makes the difference, in fact, the company has always used exclusively grapes.
The vineyards are located 350 meters above sea level, resting on the rolling hills located between Langhe and Monferrato, particularly on the “Croja Hill”, which takes its name from its, particularly poor soils, difficult for wheat but ideal for the vine. Here we extend our vineyards: 12 hectares in property located in the town of Castel Boglione entirely of hilly terrain.
Barbera, Dolcetto, Brachetto, Moscato, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown. The climate is the Mediterranean with some continental influence especially in winter; during the entire vegetative cycle of the vine, the predominant factor is the constant wind of the South direction called “Marin” (of the sea) which favours an excellent ripening of the grapes, since it increases the temperature range between night and day.
