To produce the Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Les Sinards” Rouge Famille Perrin “Les Crus” each varietal was harvested separately for optimal ripeness. Once at the winery, the grapes were hand sorted and vinified separately. A proportion of the Syrah was kept as whole bunches for additional freshness and structure, while the Grenache was 100% destemmed. Fermentation took place at controlled temperatures and then the wine was tasted to perfect the final blend. After blending, the wine was aged in oak foudres for 2 years before bottling and release to help soften the tannins and develop further aromatic complexity.
The Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Les Sinards” Rouge is a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. The fruit is sourced predominantly from younger vines (under 15 years old), at Château de Beaucastel. The soil is limestone with a pebble top-soil, which retains the daytime heat and aids the development of concentrated aromatics in the grapes. The remaining fruit comes from a plot adjacent to the ‘Clos du Château’ vineyard and is managed by the team at Château de Beaucastel.
Famille Perrin is one of the most recognisable names in the Southern Rhône. The fifth and sixth generations of the family now manage the extensive vineyard holdings and grower partnerships which stretch across the region, from Vinsobres to the Ventoux. The Famille Perrin ‘Les Crus’ range highlights the diversity of certain Southern Rhône Crus, chosen for their distinctive soils and characters.
