This Moscato di Siracusa DOC Fausta Mansio This is one of the oldest wines in the world. Already known in ancient Rome under the name of “Pollio”, it was imported to Eastern Sicily in even more remote times by the ancient Greeks. Moscato di Siracusa was, in 1973, one of the first Sicilian wines to obtain the Controlled Designation of Origin. The wine is left to mature in steel for 12 months and then refined in the bottle for another 12 months. This allows to obtain a wine with a high alcohol content and a high total acidity, essential characteristics that give an unmistakable amiability to the final sweetness of Moscato di Siracusa.
The Fausta Mansio winery was born from Fausto’s passion for wine and from the recovery project of one of the most historic Syracusan productions in 1999, today his son Olaf sees that bet won. Organic crops designed to best preserve the clayey soil of the Val d’Anapo have given fruit to Moscato di Siracusa, rediscovered in its integrity and naturalness.
