The freshly harvested grapes to produce Toscana Rosso “Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni” Frescobaldi were destemmed and fermented with natural yeasts in temperature controlled tanks, during which light pump-overs were carried out. Once the alcoholic fermentation was complete, malolactic fermentation took place and Toscana Rosso “Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni” Frescobaldi was aged in barriques for a 12 month period.
Tenuta Castiglioni is situated in the gentle hills of Val di Pesa. The richness of the weather and the terroir is expressed in the structure of the wines, due to the symbiosis between the soil, the mild climate and the afternoon breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The grapes for this wine are grown in a vineyard where the soils are made up of calcareous clay which is rich in stone.
