Carignano del Sulcis DOC “Memorie di Vite CRG” 2016 - Quartomoro

The Carignano CRG Quartomoro is a wine that tells the sea of Sardinia and the story of the great wine-making vocation of this great island. The Carignano CRG Quartomoro is produced with forgotten native vines, from vineyards located in the hinterland of the small island of Calasetta and in the lands kissed by the sea in the area of Sant’Antioco. A special label, which is born together with others of the “memories of lives” line, from the cultural project of recovery of the local winemaking traditions of Luciana Baso and Piero Cella, committed to enhancing the oldest varieties of the island and the variety of different terroir that it offers. Quartomoro CRG is obtained from grapes cultivated in vineyards with rough roots of about 40 years of age, raised as a tree in very sandy soils overlooking the sea. The proximity of the sea and the composition of the land has a decisive impact on the aromatic composition of the grapes, characterized by strong iodine and marine notes. Once they have matured, they are harvested manually and vinified according to traditional methods, with spontaneous fermentation and a maceration of about seven days, during which delicate manual pressing is carried out. The aging takes place partly in steel and partly in barriques of fourth passage for about six months. Follow another six months in the bottle.

Quartomoro di Sardegna was initially used by Piero Cella himself to experiment and test different ideas to learn more about his own wines. This led him naturally to develop it into what it is today, a kind of ‘workshop of ideas’ where new wines are created.

It is a quintessential selection chosen to represent the true culture of wine in Sardinia.
